A minor boy was seriously injured after being allegedly hit by the car of Odisha Law Minister Jagannath Saraka on Saturday. 

The injured boy has been identified as a resident of the Bisamcuttack area in Rayagada district. The victim had come to a relative’s house in Belakana village under Kalyansinghpur police limits where the accident took place. 

According to sources, Minister Saraka had gone to a volleyball tournament’s closing ceremony at Sikarpai village. While returning, the minister’s car allegedly hit the boy at Belakana Square, and reportedly tried to flee from the spot. Some villagers chased the car on bikes and stopped it. They also gheraoed the minister’s vehicle.

Later, Saraka carried the injured boy in his car and got him admitted to the Rayagada district headquarters hospital (DHH). The boy has suffered a fracture in one leg in the mishap. However, he was stated to be out of danger. 

“After the accident, I brought the boy to the hospital. I am waiting here at the hospital to know about the condition of his leg,” said Minister Saraka.
