As many as two persons of a marriage party procession were killed and 13 others sustained critical injuries in a tragic road mishap in Sonepur district late on Sunday night. 

As per sources, the marriage party members were returning in a van to Bargarh from Sonepur after attending the function when their vehicle rammed into a tree near Badakarle village under Rampur police station in Sonepur. 

Reports said, the driver of the ill-fated van lost control over the steering wheel and it collided into a road-side tree.

Two persons identified as Biranchi Mallick (60) and Jitendra Bag (25) of Bargarh district reportedly died on the spot.

All the rest injured in the accident were rescued from the site with help of locals and police and shifted to Dunguripali Community Health Centre (CHC) immediately. Condition of some of them is stated to be critical.

Rampur Police has launched a probe into the matter.
