A major fire broke out in a multi-complex located near Bhawani Mall at Sahid Nagar in Bhubaneswar on Monday. After a grueling operation, the firefighters rescued four persons trapped in a spa, which was running from the second floor of the complex.

According to a source, some people first noticed a thick smoke billowing from the complex and soon the fire department was informed. A fire engine reached the spot and the firefighters launched a rescue operation.

As it was their first priority to rescue the trapped persons, they took the trapped persons out of the spa to another building through a ladder.

“We have already rescued the four persons trapped on the second floor. They have suffered no injuries. As there is only one entrance, it is taking some more time to control the fire,” informed a fire officer presented on the spot.

Notably, from the four-storied multi-complex, a bar was running from the first floor, a spa from the second and other business centres from the third and fourth floors.

What is a matter of great concern that a restaurant was running from the underground and it is suspected that the fire might have spread from there.

“It is too early to say about the cause of the mishap. The trapped persons have been rescued safely,” informed Sanjeev Satpathy, ADCP.
At the time of filing this report, the operation to tame the flame was underway.
