Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma express caught fire between Pagidipalli and Bommaipalli stations on Friday morning.  

Fire broke out on three coaches (S4, S5, S6) of Falaknuma Express between Bommaipally and Pagidipally, following which it was stopped. All passengers deboarded the train and no injuries have been reported.

Asked about the fire, the CPRO of South-Central Railway, CH Rakesh said, "Fire caught three coaches of falaknuma Express. All the passengers were deboarded from the train following fire and all of them are safe. The affected coaches were at the front portion of the train and they have been detached from the train to prevent the fire from spreading to other coaches."

"All the passengers from the affected coaches have already been brought back to the next station by train and busses. Fire fighters are already on the spot to douse the fire and the situation is under control." he added.

Speaking about the cause of the mishap, Rakesh said, "The General Manager of South Central railway is already at the spot and an enquiry will be conducted after which we will be able to say anything on the reason of the fire."

However, one of the passengers of the coaches that caught fire, shiburaj said, "We are very fortunate to come out of the train alive. I thank God that all the passengers got down on time."  

Train movement on the route has been affected and all the trains are held up for the time being. Cancellations and divertions, if any will be informed by the Railways soon.
