Honey collection turned fatal for a youth in Karanjia after he fell from the tree and died on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as one Shuka Khanduala from Khaparakhai village under Thakurmunda police limits in Mayurbhanj district.

As per reports, Khanduala spotted a beehive and climbed the tree to collect honey from it. However, he fell from the tree while collecting honey and was critically injured.

The villagers rushed him to Thakurmunda Community Health Centre immediately in a critical condition. However, the doctors declared him dead.

Upon being informed, Thakurmunda police reached the spot and started an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

“When Khanduala fell from the three, few villagers were present there. They rushed him to the hospital immediately. However, he couldn’t be treated immediately due to absence of doctors. He was dead by the time the doctor arrived,” said Sekhar Purty, another honey collector.
