Hit & run: 2 killed, 1 critical as speeding car runs them over in Odisha’s Ganjam

In a freak mishap, two people were killed while another was left battling for life after the trio was run over by a speeding car on early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred while they were waiting for a bus at Podamari bus stand under Pattapur police limits in Ganjam district.

According to sources, the trio was waiting at the Podamari bus stand to catch a bus. As the bus had not arrived, they were standing at the bus stop. Meanwhile, a speeding car came from nowhere and rammed into the three, killing two of them on the spot and another seriously injured.

All three were rushed to the local hospital where two were declared brought dead. The condition of the injured person is stated to be critical during the filing of this report.

While no exact reason for the mishap was known immediately, sources said the car rammed into the three after the driver lost control of the steering wheel.

Following the mishap, the accused driver sped away along with the car. Police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the driver and seize the vehicle. The incident has sparked tension in the area.
