At least 35 passengers had a close shave after a bus ferrying them overturned midway near Hikirikupa village under Mohana police limits in Gajapati district. The incident occurred while the bus from Berhampur was en route to Indravati late Friday night.

The private bus ‘RB Coach’ overturned and fell off the road after the driver lost balance on the wheels during a turning. On being informed, local police along with the firefighters team reached the spot and rescued the passengers with the help of locals.

Fortunately, there was no casualty as the passengers escaped with minor injuries. The cops then arranged alternative vehicles and sent all the passengers to their destinations.

“We were on our way to Indravati from Berhampur when the mishap occurred. The steering of the vehicle got locked which led to the mishap. Luckily, no passenger was injured in the mishap. I was driving carefully, but the mishap occurred as the steering of the vehicle got locked,” said bus driver Banbari Lal.
