In an unfortunate incident, several Class 10 students on their way to the exam centre for the annual matriculation exam, sustained injuries after the vehicle carrying them overturned mid-way. The condition of one girl student is stated to be critical, depriving her of the exam.
The shocking incident has been reported from Krushnanagar under Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district.
According to sources, as many as 11 students were en route to their exam center in an SUV. The tragic mishap occurred after the driver lost balance on the wheels and hit a cyclist on the road. While the cyclist was killed on the spot, the students sustained critical injuries. The deceased cyclist has been identified as Subrat Mandal.
The condition of one of the students remains critical, reports said.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Class 10 board examinations that commenced today will conclude on March 6, 2025. The board exam kicked off today with the First Language paper that will be followed by Second Language on February 23, Mathematics on February 26, Third Language on February 28, Science on March 4, and concluding with Social Science on March 6.
This year, the BSE Odisha has implemented stringent measures to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations and prevent any malpractices. Special arrangements have been made to safeguard against question paper leaks, including the use of sealed question papers and strict protocols for their distribution.
The board has also deployed flying squads and static surveillance teams to monitor exam centers. Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed at sensitive locations to maintain the integrity of the examination process.
