A series of accidents has taken place near Power House Square in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The accident led to traffic jam at the busy intersection for some time. However, there were no casualties reported in the mishap.

Sources said the mishap took place when a car rear-ended another car standing at the traffic point after losing its control over it. It led the second car to hit other cars in front of it ending in a pile up.

The person driving the first car said, “I lost control over the steering wheel for which the mishap happened.  I have been driving for last 17 years and the vehicle was moving at 40 kilometres per hour. It all happened as my brakes failed.”

Last month, Bolangir witnessed a series of accidents which claimed the life of a youth and rendered two others critical before the RTO office. Later, police have released the CCTV footage from the accident site. Exclusive footage showed how a truck rammed into a bike on a freeway injuring three persons and met with another accident by hitting a roadside tree. Following the release of CCTV footage, it is learnt that it was a murder attempt.
