At least four persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Bhadrak and Kandhamal districts on Tuesday.

Three people were killed as a truck crushed the bike-borne trio on Basudevpur Road near Sabaranga area in Bhadrak district on Tuesday night.

The three deceased have been identified as Daitari Behera, Prakash Dalei of Edtal Village under Basudevpur block and Dushasana Mohapatra of Chandigaon area.

As per the report, three victims worked in Dhamara, one as a Dhamara port employee and the others as cooks. The mishap took place when the victim trio was returning to their homes late last night from Dhamara.

One of them died on the spot while two others were taken to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition where they succumbed under treatment.

In another incident, an elderly man was killed after an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit him on Tuesday evening near Paburia area of Kandhamal district.

The deceased has been identified as Binod Dandia of Hatapada Sahi in Paburia area.

Binod was returning home when the unidentified vehicle knocked him down, killing him on the spot.

The incident triggered a mob fury in the area. Demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased, the aggrieved people staged a blockade on the road connecting places such as G.Udaygiri, Tikabali, Raikia and Sarangad from Paburia by keeping the dead body of the deceased.
