At least 30 passengers sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned near Ganthi square under Badchana police limits in Jajpur on Saturday.

The bus en route Karanjia in Mayurbhanj from Bhubaneswar overturned near Ganthi square under Badchana police limits on Saturday night.

As per reports, the bus named Jay Durga with 40 passengers on board was on the National Highway 16 when it hit the barricade and dived into a 20 feet deep pit near the Ganthi chhak at around 11 pm on Saturday night.

Following the mishap, firefighters rescued the injured passengers and rushed them to the nearby hospital.

Out of the 30 passengers injured in the mishap, 13 seriously injured passengers were shifted to SCB hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.

Meanwhile, police have launched a probe to ascertain the actual reason behind the road mishap.

In another such road mishap, a driver lost his life while a helper sustained critical injuries in a collision between two trucks near Bahanaga market in Balasore.

The injured helper was rushed to Soro hospital and his condition is reportedly stable. Irate locals later blocked NH-16 demanding compensation for the deceased and the injured.
