Crane collapses
At least three labourers suffered serious injuries after a part of the crane fell on them at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Friday.
As per reports, As per reports, a ten-storey building is being constructed as a part of the ongoing expansion work of the medical college. A tower crane was installed to lift construction materials to the top of the building. When the work was going on in full swing, a portion of the crane collapsed on the labourers, leaving three seriously injured.
The injured labourers have been identified as Mubarak Ansari of Bihar, Dinabandhu Behera and Bansidhar Mallick. They have been admitted to the casualty ward of the medical college.

It is yet to be ascertained if the labourers were wearing appropriate safety gear and the SOP or the required safety measures were in place at the construction site.
Following the mishap, the construction work was stopped and the site was cordoned off to restrict people’s entry.
When contacted, Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said, “We have directed the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Ltd to investigate into the incident. They will submit their report to the government. The government will bear the treatment cost of the three injured persosns.”
