In a tragic road accident, three persons were killed after the bike they were riding on had a head-on collision with a pick-up van on NH-55 near Santarapur under Jarpada police limits in Angul district on Sunday. 

The identities of the deceased persons are yet to be ascertained. 

Sources said, the three persons were on their way to Jarpada on a bike when the accident took place. As they were nearing Santarapur, they collided with a pick -van coming from the opposite direction. The collision was so intense that, two of the three riders died on the spot. 
Local people rescued the profusely bleeding third one and rushed him to a nearby government hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment, sources added. 

After the mishap, the pick-up van driver fled from the spot leaving behind his van at the accident site. 

Registering a case, the police have launched an investigation and manhunt for the driver. 

In another incident, a driver allegedly under the influence of drugs caused a series of accidents, leaving three injured near Suryanagar area under Capital police limits in Bhubaneswar. 

It was when the driver was trying to speed away from the spot that some people stopped his car and overpowered him and two other occupants. Later, they handed over the trio to the police. While the police are interrogating them, materials used to inhale brown sugar were recovered from the car.
