As many as 15 tourists from West Bengal sustained injuries after the bus ferrying them hit a dumper and plunged into a gorge on NH-60 in Balasore district early Thursday morning. Luckily, children and women present in the bus had a close shave with minor injuries.

Sources said, the tourists from West Bengal’s Bankura had been to Puri. The incident occurred while they were on their way back home. Midway the vehicle’s tyre burst, leading to the mishap. The driver failed to control the vehicle and subsequently, the vehicle plunged into a gorge after hitting a dumper.

“We had gone to Puri and were returning home. The vehicle’s tyre burst, leading to the mishap. There were 30 women and 15 children inside the bus. Luckily there has been no casualty, but around 10-15 people have been injured,” a tourist stated.

Another tourist stated, “There were around 65 people inside the vehicle. Two of them have broken their legs. The driver could not control the vehicle after the tyre burst mid-way.”
