Eleven persons lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Odisha in the last 24 hours.

As many as six persons, including a child and a woman, were killed after a car in which they were travelling in lost control and hit a road-side tree near Sunsunia on Nuapara-Bargarh road in the afternoon on Monday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased persons is yet to be ascertained.

According to sources, there more people are still trapped inside the car and their condition is state to be critical.

The accident took place when the passengers were returning from Padmapur to Mahasamunda in Chhattisgarh.

The driver of the ill-fated car lost control over the vehicle and it rammed into a road-side tree causing the death of six persons on the spot, sources informed.

On being informed about the mishap, the Jonka police and Fire brigade personnel from Nuapada rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

In the other mishap, at least five persons were killed after a car in which they were travelling in rammed into stationary truck on NH-149 near Kantiapasi under Khamar Police Station in Angul late last night.

While three persons of died on the spot, two others succumbed during treatment at the hospital.
