A person was killed while eight others sustained injuries after a truck collided head-on with a Bolero, carrying members of a marriage party, on Biju Expressway near Bhursaguda under Ampani Police Station limits in Kalahandi district late on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as the driver of the Bolero, Rukman Sahu (35) of Urmal village in Chhattisgarh.

The injured persons, including the bridge and the groom have been admitted to Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) at Dharmagarh for treatment. The health condition of three among the eight injured persons is stated to be critical. 

As per reports, the incident took place at around 11.30 pm when the marriage party was returning to Sargiguda village Deobhog block of Chhatisgarh after the marriage at Dumerpadar village under Maidalpur block of Nabarangpur district yesterday night.

Ampani Police rushed to the spot after getting information and rushed the critically injured driver Sahu to Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kokasara in Kalahandi district. However, Sahu was declared dead by the doctors.

A case has been registered into the incident and an investigation is underway by the police.
