1 Killed, 1 Critical As Trailer Falls Of Bridge In Odisha's Kamakhyanagar

At least one person was killed and another sustained critical injury after an iron-laden trailer fell off a bridge over Brahmani river near Kamagara in Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal district on Saturday.

The identity of the deceased and injured is yet to be ascertained. 

According to sources, the mishap took place when the ill-fated trailer was on its way to Kamakhyanagar from Dhenkanal today morning.

The driver of the vehicle lost control over the steering and it fell into the river by breaking the barricades on the bridge, sources said.

On being informed, fire department officials immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the driver and helper of the vehicle in a critical condition.

The duo was immediately rushed to Dhenkanal hospital where the helper of the vehicle died while undergoing treatment. However, the driver of the trailer shifted to SCB medical college and hospital after his health condition deteriorated.

Though the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, it is believed that overloading might have led to the accident.

Meanwhile, police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the road mishap.
