Why did UP woman marry Lord Krishna idol in a rare temple ceremony?
In a rare and unconventional event, a 28-year-old woman from Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh married an idol of Lord Krishna in a full traditional Hindu ceremony. Pinky Sharma performed all customary wedding rituals, including the saat phere, with the idol placed in her lap.
The following day, Pinky’s ceremonial send-off (vidaai) was held in keeping with traditional bridal customs, with villagers joining together to assume the role of her family. Her brother-in-law, Indresh Sharma, participated in the procession, symbolically acting as the baraati for Lord Krishna.
What inspired her unique decision?
As per reports, Pinky explained that the decision was guided by what she believed was a divine sign. Three months earlier, during a visit to the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, she received a gold ring as prasad, which she interpreted as a gesture of acceptance from the deity. Her devotion has only deepened since then, and she expressed her wish to live in Vrindavan, dedicating her life to worship, meditation, and spiritual service.
Initially puzzled, Pinky’s family eventually supported her decision after witnessing her unwavering faith. The idol was brought home from Vrindavan, and Pandit Ramshankar Mishra performed the rituals, affirming that the marriage was conducted with full consent.

Villagers now affectionately call her “Meera,” drawing parallels to the saint known for her devotion to Krishna. Pinky has renounced worldly concerns, immersing herself fully in Krishna’s love and guidance.
