Watch: Massive fire erupts in oil tanker on NH-27 in Assam

A major fire erupted in an oil tanker on National Highway-27 in the Gossaigaon area of Kokrajhar district on Tuesday, officials said.

Fire and emergency services teams rushed to the spot soon after the blaze was reported. Fire tenders are engaged in efforts to bring the flames under control. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the tanker, causing concern among commuters and local residents. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. In a separate incident on Monday, at least seven workers lost their lives in a fire at a chemical factory in the Bhiwadi area of Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district.

Rajasthan Minister Sanjay Sharma stated that the factory was allegedly operating illegally and manufacturing fireworks in an industrial zone designated for garments. The plot had reportedly been allotted by RIICO to an individual who later subleased it. Officials said such activities were not permitted in the area. An investigation into the incident is underway.
