A tragic incident struck the industrial area of Bharuch district, Gujarat, early Wednesday morning, when a powerful boiler explosion ripped through a pharmaceutical factory in the Saykha GIDC zone. The blast, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., triggered a massive fire that engulfed the unit and caused widespread panic among workers.

Fire, Chaos, and Rescue Efforts

According to Bharuch District Collector Gaurang Makwana, the explosion’s intensity was so severe that the factory structure collapsed within moments. While most workers managed to escape the blaze, two employees were trapped under the debris and later found dead. Around 20 others sustained minor injuries as they scrambled to safety amid the inferno. Fire brigade and police teams rushed to the spot, bringing the blaze under control after several hours of relentless effort.

Probe Underway into Factory Safety

Officials from the Director Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) have reached the site to investigate the cause of the explosion and verify whether the factory possessed all necessary licences and safety clearances.
