In a deeply disturbing case from Himachal Pradesh, three government school teachers including the headmaster have been booked for brutally assaulting a Dalit boy and allegedly placing a scorpion in his pants. The incident took place at a Government Primary School in Khaddapani, under Shimla’s Rohru subdivision.
According to the police complaint filed by the boy’s father, the child, had been physically tortured for nearly a year by headmaster Devendra and teachers Babu Ram and Kritika Thakur. The repeated assaults reportedly left the boy’s ear bleeding and caused damage to his eardrum.
Caste Bias and Fear Tactics Alleged
The complaint further states that the teachers forced the boy into a toilet before placing the scorpion in his clothes, and later threatened to expel him if he spoke up. The family was warned of dire consequences including threats of being 'burned' should they approach police or post about the abuse online.
The father also alleged caste-based discrimination, claiming Dalit and Nepali students were made to sit separately from Rajput students during meals.

Police Action and Wider Concerns
Police have booked the accused under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Juvenile Justice Act, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Senior officers are now reviewing whether a gazetted officer should lead the probe.
This horrifying case has reignited concerns about child safety and caste discrimination in schools, a grim reminder that prejudice and cruelty can still find space where education should nurture equality.
