Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose exemplifies the true meaning of bravery and valour, underscoring that Parakram Diwas serves as a reminder of Netaji’s indomitable courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the nation.

Marking the occasion, the Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam highlighting the highest ideals of heroism. The verse emphasises that true valour lies in protecting the lives of others, and that a person who preserves and safeguards life is the real hero, not one who takes it.

The Prime Minister shared the message on the social media platform X, stating that Netaji’s life continues to inspire the nation by defining the true essence of courage and selfless service.

Parakram Diwas is observed annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and to honour his enduring legacy in India’s freedom struggle.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, observed as Parakram Diwas, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

Taking to his official X handle, Odisha CM Mohan Majhi wrote, “Heartfelt tributes are being paid on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of the foremost leaders of India’s freedom struggle, founder of the Azad Hind Fauj and a proud son of Odisha, on the occasion of Parakram Diwas.”

BJP National Vice President and MP Baijayant Panda also paid rich tributes to Netaji and Veer Surendra Sai.

“On the birth anniversaries of two great sons of Odisha — Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a worthy son of Odia soil, one of the finest leaders of India’s freedom struggle, founder of the Azad Hind Fauj, a great mass leader and patriot; and Veer Surendra Sai, a legendary freedom fighter, tribal leader, pride of Odisha, revolutionary and valiant warrior — heartfelt tributes to both these great personalities. Their sacrifice, dedication and supreme devotion to the motherland remain eternal and continue to inspire generations,” wrote Panda on X.
