Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday embarked on a three-nation tour to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman, aimed at strengthening India’s bilateral ties and deepening cooperation with key partners in West Asia and Africa.
The visit begins with Jordan from December 15 to 16, at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. During his stay, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with the Jordanian monarch to review the full spectrum of India-Jordan relations and exchange views on regional developments. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and is expected to give fresh momentum to bilateral engagement. The Prime Minister will also interact with members of the Indian community in Jordan.
In the second leg, PM Modi will travel to Ethiopia from December 16 to 17, marking his first visit to the country. He will hold detailed discussions with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on bilateral cooperation. Addis Ababa, which hosts the headquarters of the African Union, holds special significance following the AU’s admission as a permanent member of the G20 during India’s presidency. PM Modi will also address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament and meet the Indian diaspora.
The final leg of the tour will take the Prime Minister to Oman from December 17 to 18, at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The visit, coinciding with 70 years of diplomatic relations, will focus on strengthening the India-Oman Strategic Partnership across key sectors.
