BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya took to X with ‘proofs’ that Banerjee falsified details regarding the survivor’s movements on the night of the crime.

Mamata Lied About Timing And Campus Link

Malviya claimed that while Banerjee told the media the survivor had left her medical campus around 12:30 am, official records from IQ City Medical College and Hospital show that the second-year MBBS student had exited the campus around 8 pm.

“The Chief Minister must verify facts before commenting on such sensitive matters. She has tried to mislead the public,” Malviya wrote.

He further argued that the assault occurred outside the college premises, not within the campus as implied by Banerjee, and said blaming the college authorities was “unjustified.” The BJP leader also pointed out that the survivor belongs to a Dalit community and alleged that the case reflected “a failure of the state’s law and order machinery.”

Mamata Under Fire For Controversial Remark

The remarks by the West Bengal Chief Minister, suggesting that girls should avoid stepping out late at night, have drawn sharp criticism from several quarters, including BJP leaders and women’s rights advocates.

Delhi BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj condemned the statement, calling it “insensitive and regressive.” She said, “Instead of holding perpetrators accountable, the Chief Minister is shifting blame to women.”

Swaraj also cited multiple rape incidents reported in Bengal over recent months, claiming they were proof of administrative collapse under Mamata Banerjee’s government.

"...CM Mamata Banerjee justifies that rape. She says that women should not go out late at night...TMC has become synonymous with a regressive mindset," said Swaraj while urging the Mamata Banerjee government and the CM herself to stop justifying rape and give justice to the victim.
