Maha deputy CM Ajit Pawar passes away; President Murmu, PM Modi, Odisha CM Majhi, BJP VP Jay Panda, others express grief

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several senior leaders cutting across party lines on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the plane crash near Baramati.

In a message shared on social media, President Murmu described Pawar’s untimely demise as an irreparable loss to public life. She said he would be remembered for his significant contributions to Maharashtra’s development, particularly his role in strengthening the cooperative sector. The President extended her condolences to Pawar’s family, supporters and admirers, and also expressed sympathy for the families of others who lost their lives in the tragic accident, praying for strength and courage for the bereaved.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Pawar was widely regarded as a hardworking and committed leader who dedicated his life to serving the people of Maharashtra. Recalling his deep understanding of administrative matters and strong grassroots connections, the Prime Minister said Pawar worked tirelessly to empower the poor and marginalised, and was truly a leader of the masses.
