Income Tax Raids and Controversy
According to India today sources, the group entered the national spotlight in March 2024 when the Income Tax Department carried out searches at over 20 locations linked to the company and its promoters across multiple states. Officials claimed to have recovered large sums of cash, luxury vehicle documents and high-value diamond watches from premises associated with Shivam Mishra. Investigators alleged evidence of tax evasion and undisclosed assets worth crores.
During the raids, authorities also alleged that Shivam briefly pointed a licensed pistol at officials at his Delhi residence before realising their identity, an incident that drew widespread attention.
Luxury Lifestyle and Recent Crash
Shivam Mishra is known for his high-end lifestyle, with reports linking him to luxury cars such as Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche, along with expensive jewellery and watches.
Attention returned sharply after a Lamborghini crash in Kanpur on Sunday, where the vehicle allegedly hit a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw, injuring several people. Questions over the driver’s identity and omissions in the FIR have reignited debate.
As investigations continue, the crash has once again placed Shivam Mishra and the Banshidhar Tobacco Group under scrutiny, raising broader questions about influence, accountability and the pace of legal action.
