India slams Pakistan at UN, says ‘no Locus Standi’ on Jammu & Kashmir Photograph: (India at UN, NY/X)
India on Monday strongly countered Pakistan at the United Nations, rejecting what it called a “false and self-serving” narrative over New Delhi’s retaliatory action under Operation Sindoor and asserting that Islamabad has “no locus standi” to comment on India’s internal matters, particularly Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking during a UN Security Council Open Debate, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, said the Pakistani representative had a “single-point agenda” to malign India. He stressed that the facts surrounding Operation Sindoor were “clear and well documented,” recalling that Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed 26 civilians in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, an act condemned by the Security Council itself.
“This august body called for holding the perpetrators, organisers, financiers, and sponsors of this reprehensible act accountable. That is exactly what we did,” he said. Parvathaneni underlined that India’s response was “measured, non-escalatory and responsible,” aimed solely at dismantling terrorist infrastructure.

Responding to Pakistan’s reference to a “new normal,” he asserted that terrorism could never be normalised and criticised Pakistan’s continued use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir “has been, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.”
The envoy also said India had placed the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance until Pakistan credibly ends support for terrorism, urging Islamabad to introspect on its own adherence to the rule of law.
