Terror Plot Foiled Just in Time

Officials revealed that both accused, identified as Adnan from Delhi’s Sadiq Nagar and another Adnan from Bhopal, were apprehended in a coordinated operation between the two cities. The arrests, made on October 16, averted what could have been a devastating strike during the festive season.

“The duo had conducted reconnaissance of several high-footfall areas and were planning to carry out blasts on Diwali,” said Pramod Kushwaha, Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

Evidence and Radical Links

During the raids, police recovered a video of the accused pledging allegiance to ISIS, photos of potential targets, and a makeshift timer device fashioned out of a wristwatch. Investigators also found digital evidence suggesting the suspects were in touch with foreign handlers and were being trained for “fidayeen” or suicide-style missions.

ISIS Module Busted

The arrests are believed to have exposed a larger ISIS-inspired module active across multiple states. The Bhopal-based suspect was already on the radar for allegedly threatening an ASI official over the Gyanvapi mosque survey. Authorities are now probing possible links to Pakistan’s ISI and efforts to recruit others locally.

Investigation Underway

Police said the operation prevented a major terror attack planned for Diwali. “Their plans were in an advanced stage,” an officer confirmed, adding that searches and interrogations continue to trace other members of the network.
