Delhi-bound Air India flight makes emergency landing due to technical snag
A New Delhi-bound Air India flight to Bengaluru had to make an emergency-landing in Bhopal on Monday night due to a technical glitch mid-air.
According to reports, aircraft AI 2487 took off from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 6:31 PM for Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport.
The flight carrying 172 passengers experienced a technical fault mid-air, forcing an emergency landing at Raja Bhoj Airport. All the on-board passengers landed safely, and the crew confirmed all aircraft systems were normal.
"Following standard safety procedures, a full emergency was declared at 1933 IST. A few minutes later, the crew confirmed that the warning had cleared and all aircraft systems were normal. The flight landed safely at 2000 IST with 172 persons on board," said an official.
Immediate assistance was provided to the passengers for their support.
Two Air India Flights Face Mid-Air Glitches Within Hours
The incident comes just hours after a similar one, when a Delhi-bound Air India flight from San Francisco, carrying 228 passengers, made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia due to a suspected technical issue.
In a statement, Air India said that all passengers were provided with hotel accommodation and meals following the diversion.
The airline also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the unforeseen incident, adding, “Every effort is being made to minimise the inconvenience.”
