Delhi blast linked to ‘Fidayeen’ attack, Delhi Police probe terror angle
The explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed at least eight on Monday evening is now suspected to be a ‘Fidayeen’ or suicide attack, according to Delhi Police’s initial investigation. Sources told ANI that the suspect decided to carry out the suicide attack soon after learning that the Faridabad terror module had been busted.
“Initial findings suggest the Red Fort car explosion could be a ‘Fidayeen’ attack. The accused appeared to act out of desperation after the crackdown on his associates,” a senior official said.
The blast occurred around 7 pm near the Red Fort Metro station, when a slow-moving car suddenly exploded, damaging several nearby vehicles and causing chaos in the area. Forensic teams have been deployed to collect evidence from the site, while the remains of the vehicle are being examined for traces of explosives.

Following the incident, Delhi Police registered an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act. Raids are underway across Delhi-NCR, while security has been tightened at airports, railway stations, and major public places. All central agencies, including the NIA and NSG, are jointly investigating the possible terror links behind the attack.
