As Cyclone Montha nears landfall along the Andhra coast, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has cancelled 32 trains operating through Odisha and Andhra Pradesh between October 27 and 29, 2025, as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety and smooth operational management.
The cancellations affect several key passenger, express, superfast, and MEMU services linking Visakhapatnam, Kirandul, Kakinada, Hyderabad, Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Gunupur.
List Of Trains Cancelled:
According to the official notification, the following trains will remain cancelled:
The Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Express (18515) on October 27, Kirandul–Visakhapatnam Express (18516) on October 28, Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Passenger (58501) and Kirandul–Visakhapatnam Passenger (58502) both on October 28, Visakhapatnam–Koraput Passenger (58538) and Koraput–Visakhapatnam Passenger (58537) on October 28, Visakhapatnam–Koraput Express (18512) on October 27, and Koraput–Visakhapatnam Express (18511) on October 28.
Also cancelled are Rajahmundry–Visakhapatnam MEMU (67285) and Visakhapatnam–Rajahmundry MEMU (67286) on October 28; Visakhapatnam–Kakinada Express (17268) and Kakinada–Visakhapatnam Express (17267) on October 28; Visakhapatnam–Tirupati Express (08583) on October 27 and Tirupati–Visakhapatnam Express (08584) on October 28.
Double Decker services, including Visakhapatnam–Guntur (22875) and Guntur–Visakhapatnam (22876) are cancelled on October 28, while the Visakhapatnam–Tirupati Double Decker (22707) will not run on October 27.
Similarly, Visakhapatnam–Brahmapur Express (18526) is cancelled on October 27 and its return service Brahmapur–Visakhapatnam Express (18525) on October 28. The Guntur–Rayagada Express (17243) and Rayagada–Guntur Express (17244) will remain cancelled on October 27.
Short-distance MEMU trains affected include Visakhapatnam–Palasa (67289) and Palasa–Visakhapatnam (67290), both on October 28, along with Vizianagaram–Visakhapatnam (67288) and Visakhapatnam–Vizianagaram (67287), also on October 28 and 27, respectively.
Local MEMU services between Cuttack and Gunupur (68433, 68434) will remain suspended on October 28 and 29. Passenger trains Brahmapur–Visakhapatnam (58531) and Visakhapatnam–Brahmapur (58532) are cancelled on October 28, as are Visakhapatnam–Gunupur Passenger (58506) and Gunupur–Visakhapatnam Passenger (58505) on the same date.
Among major express and superfast trains, the Visakhapatnam–Machilipatnam Express (17220), Visakhapatnam–Hyderabad Express (12727), Visakhapatnam–Mahabubnagar Superfast (12861), and Visakhapatnam–Chennai Superfast Weekly (22869) have been cancelled on October 27. Their corresponding return services — Mahabubnagar–Visakhapatnam (12862), Chennai–Visakhapatnam (22870) — will remain cancelled on October 28.
The Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Express (12739), Visakhapatnam–New Delhi AP Superfast (20805), and Visakhapatnam–Lokmanya Tilak (18519) will not operate on October 27, while their return trains — New Delhi–Visakhapatnam AP Superfast (20806) and Lokmanya Tilak–Visakhapatnam (18520) — are cancelled on October 29.
ECoR has clarified that these cancellations are purely precautionary, given the expected heavy rainfall and strong winds as Cyclone Montha nears coastal Andhra Pradesh and moves inland.
Passengers have been advised to verify their train status before travel through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or East Coast Railway’s official communication channels for real-time updates.
