President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Governor, BJP Vice-President Baijayant Jay Panda and other leaders on Thursday extended Christmas greetings to citizens across the country, with special messages for members of the Christian community, as the festival marking the birth of Jesus Christ was observed nationwide.
In a message shared on X, President Murmu conveyed greetings and best wishes to all citizens. Describing Christmas as a festival of joy and enthusiasm, the President said the occasion conveys the message of love and compassion and recalls the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the welfare of humanity.

Christmas Observed Across Odisha
The greetings from national and state leaders coincided with widespread Christmas celebrations across Odisha. Churches in several parts of the state witnessed large congregations late into Wednesday night as devotees gathered for special midnight services marking the birth of Jesus Christ.
In Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, churches reported steady footfall from the evening onwards, with prayers, hymns and Bible readings forming the core of the midnight masses. Devotees were seen offering prayers before nativity scenes depicting the birth of Christ.
