Honking Sparks Altercation

The incident occurred on October 26 near Ramaiah College in north Bengaluru. Police said the confrontation began when the victim honked at the accused identified as Sukruth Keshav for blocking a free left.

Angered by the horn, Sukruth allegedly chased the scooter and rammed his Tata Curvv into it.

Initially, the case was filed as a hit-and-run by the traffic police. But inconsistencies in the accused’s statements raised suspicion, prompting a deeper probe.

CCTV Footage Reveals the Truth

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Akshay confirmed that CCTV footage changed the course of the investigation. “Once the footage was obtained, it became clear that the collision was not accidental but deliberate,” he said.

The case was transferred to the Sadashivanagar Law and Order Police, who then booked it as an attempt-to-murder offence.

Accused Claims He Only Wanted to ‘Scare’ the Rider

During interrogation, Sukruth admitted he got irritated by the honking. “I allowed him to overtake and tried to scare him, but ended up hitting the vehicle,” he said. However, investigators concluded the act was intentional and reckless.

Investigation Underway

Police have seized the vehicle and are continuing their investigation. The shocking case highlights the growing concern over aggressive and dangerous behaviour on city roads, where a simple honk can sometimes turn deadly.
