Air India & IndiGo warn of possible delays, advisory out Photograph: (Canva)
Air travel on several domestic routes may face temporary disruptions as airlines begin implementing a technical directive issued by aircraft manufacturer Airbus for its global A320 family fleet.
Major carriers Air India and IndiGo on Saturday confirmed on X, possible delays and minor schedule adjustments as mandated updates are carried out on their aircraft.
Air India said it is complying with a directive involving software and hardware realignment on a portion of its A320 fleet. The airline noted that the process could result in longer turnaround times, leading to delays on certain services, and apologised for the inconvenience to passengers during the implementation phase.
IndiGo, which operates a large A320 fleet, reiterated that safety remains its top priority. The airline said it is proactively completing the required technical checks and updates across its aircraft while adhering to all safety protocols. It added that some flights may witness slight changes in timings as a precautionary measure.
Earlier this month, Air India announced the completion of the retrofit programme for its legacy A320neo aircraft, returning the final aircraft to service with upgraded cabin interiors. The airline currently operates over 100 aircraft from the A320 family following new deliveries and fleet integration after the Vistara merger.
