Mumbai: The NCP on Monday said it was waiting for the Congress to take a call on supporting a Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra, and would take a decision jointly with the grand old party.

Addressing a press conference here, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik said most of the Congress MLAs in Maharashtra are in favour of supporting a Sena-led government, but the Congress leadership will have to make up its mind on the issue.

Speaking after the party's core group meeting, he said there was a need for the NCP and Congress to arrive at a consensus on "certain big issues", but any decision taken would be a joint one.

His comments come as the Congress leadership in Delhi held a meeting in the morning to decide on the issue of supporting a Sena-led government. The party has called its MLAs from Maharashtra for a meeting in the evening to take a final call on the matter.
