Raipur: After the BJP faced a drubbing in the Assembly elections, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh resigned taking moral responsibility for the party's defeat in elections.

Speaking to media, Singh informed that he has sent his resignation to the Governor. "I take moral responsibility for the defeat because the poll was contested under my leadership," said Raman Singh, adding that his party will act as a strong Opposition and work for the development of the State.

Congratulating Congress on the success, Singh said, "We respect the mandate that the public has given. I congratulate Congress on this success. I consider it my luck to serve the public of Chhattisgarh for the last 15 years."
