Bhubaneswar: Much to the joy of aspiring candidates wishing to join the Indian Railways, the South Central Railway and Southern Railway have announced various vacancies under the Sports quota (Group C) for Railway Recruitment 2017.

Interested and eligible candidates can apply online or submit applications forms to the respective Board. The details of each of the Recruitment Cells is as follows:

The Southern Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Chennai has released a recruitment notification to fill up 20 vacancies under Sports Quota. Interested candidates should apply before December 18, 2017.

However the last date to submit application form for candidates of Assam, Meghalay, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar islands & Lakshadweep islands is January 2, 2018.

Candidates applying for more than one game or event shall submit separate applications with separate IPOs/DDs and complete documents for each.

Age limit: Applicants’ age should be between 18 and 25 years as on January 1, 2018, i.e. he/she should have been born between January 2, 1993 and January 1, 2000.

Pay scale: The selected candidates will get a monthly salary of Rs 19,900 to Rs 29,200 in 7th CPC.

Application Fees:

The processing fee of Rs 500 is payable either in the form of Demand Draft (DD)/Indian Postal Order (IPO), drawn in favour of “The Assistant Personnel Officer/ Railway Recruitment Cell, Chennai “ payable at Chennai. However, Women/SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PWD candidates will have to pay an examination fee of Rs 250, with a provision for refunding the same to those who actually appeared in the written examination or trial.

Recruitment Process:

The candidates, who apply in response to the notification and are found eligible for consideration for appointment against sports quota, will be assessed based on their performance during the trial and interview.

(a) For Game Skill, Physical Fitness and Coach’s observation during trials- 40 Marks

(b) For assessment of recognised sports achievements as per Norms- 50 Marks

(c) Educational Qualification- 05 Marks

(d) General Intelligence/Personality etc- 05 Marks

TOTAL- 100 Marks

Note: (a) Candidates who secured 25 marks or more in the trial only will be considered FIT for the next stage of recruitment i.e. Interview stage. (b) Minimum qualifying marks for recruitment in Level-2 to Level-5 in 7th PC Pay Matrix as per the notification.

Vacancies under Sports Quota: 21

Application Submission Last Date: Interested and eligible candidates will have to submit the filled up application form to the Board on or before December 27, 2017.

Age Limit: Applicants' age should not exceed 25 years as on January 1, 2017.

Qualification: Candidate should have passed10th or equivalent and must have represented India in Category-A, B & C Championships / events.

Selection Process: Selection of candidates is completely based on the Examination and Interview.

Application Fee: Applicants will have to pay Rs 100 through crossed Bank Draft/IPO drawn in favour of Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer, South Central Railway payable at Secunderabad.
