The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has reportedly selected more than one lakh candidates in the last three years.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said that over one lakh government job aspirants have been empanelled by the RRB in the last three years.

“During the last three years, from 2017-2018 to 2019-2020 (up to March 5), a total number of 1,47,620 candidates have been empanelled for various Group ‘C’ posts (including Level-1) by Railways through RRBs and Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs),” he said.

He further said that three recruitment examinations against Centralized Employment Notifications (CEN) are in process to be conducted in the coming months.

Earlier this year, RRC had released a notification for engagement of Act Apprentices in Eastern Railway for the year 2019-20. Applications for the positions can be submitted by March 13, 2020.

Candidates applying need to have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age as on cut-off date for receiving application. The age as recorded in the Matriculation certificate or the Birth Certificate shall only be reckoned for the purpose.

Candidates applying need to have completed 10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with minimum 50% marks, in aggregate, from recognized Board and also should possess the National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.

However, for the following Trades the minimum educational qualification is 8th class pass from recognized School and the National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT: Welder (Gas and Electric), Sheet Metal Worker, Lineman, Wireman, Carpenter and Painter (General).
