New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Padma Vibhushan awarded to former Mauritius prime minister Anerood Jugnauth is a token of affection from 130 crore Indians for his continuous efforts towards deepening friendship between the two countries.

Modi was responding to a tweet by Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth who thanked India for the award to Anerood Jugnauth.

He was named for Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award, in the field of public affairs.

"The award is a token of affection from 130 crore Indians to the Rt Hon Sir @AJugnauth for his continuous efforts towards deepening friendship between India and Mauritius," Modi tweeted.
