Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has reportedly announced OBC quota for admissions to Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas.
The extension of the reservation will come into effect in the schools from the next academic session.

The HRD ministry announced the decision today only after having a discussion with the Social Justice and Law ministries along with the OBC Commission, said sources.
Though SC/ST students enjoy reservation here which is given in proportion to their population in a specific district, earlier, there was no provision for reservation for OBC students.
There are 1,228 Kendriya Vidyalayas while about 600 Navodaya Vidyalayas in India.
