Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has issued a draft notification proposing that registration of motor vehicles owned by Central Government, State/UT governments, Local Govt institutions, PSUs, State Transport Undertakings, Autonomous bodies with Central / State Govts, will not be renewed after 15 years.
As per the proposals, this policy is proposed to be effective from 1 April 2022. In an official notification issued on Friday, the Ministry has sought suggestions and objections within a period of 30 days.
Sources said that the decision by the Centre would give a big push for voluntary phasing out of old and polluting vehicles under the new vehicle scrapping policy.
