Palghar: A man was booked along with his mother for allegedly poisoning his wife here, police said today.
According to the complaint lodged in this regard yesterday, the man, a resident of Virar locality here, had force-fed poison to his wife, 33, on July 6, for dowry and also because she could not conceive, Virar police station assistant inspector B P Bhoir said.
The accused was helped by his mother while poisoning his wife, the complaint further stated.
The mother-son duo, whose names have been withheld by the police, were charged under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) and section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), the officer said.
No arrest has been made so far and further investigations are on.
