Bhubaneswar: The low pressure system over Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression during the next 48 hours, said India Meteorological Department IMD) on Saturday.

As per the latest forecast, the fresh Low Pressure area lies over South Andaman Sea adjoining South-east Bay of Bengal and Equatorial Indian Ocean.

It is very likely to concentrate into a Depression during next 48 hours and likely to intensify further thereafter. Moreover, it is likely to move nearly westwards and reach south Tamil Nadu coast around December, 2 2020, said IMD in a statement.

The IMD informed that under the influence of the above system, scattered to widespread rainfall activity very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, south Coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Rayalaseema during December 1-2.

Similarly, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with moderate thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during 01-02 December.

Isolated heavy rainfall with moderate thunderstorm & lightning also very likely to occur over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh during 01-02 December and over Rayalseema and Lakshadweep area on 02 December, 2020.
