Bhubaneswar: The Indian Railways has decided to run 12 pairs of Kumbh Mela special trains.
The latest addition of special trains is in addition to the existing services for Haridwar which are already in operation.

In a statement, the Indian Railways said, “Besides, 15 pairs of trains bound for Haridwar, have also been augmented for generating additional accommodation for the pilgrims.”

The Kumbh Mela 2021 began on the occasion of Maha Shivratri today (March 11). The mela is held four times over a course of 12 years at four river-bank pilgrimage sites - Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik.

According to the Railways, a centralised control room has also been set up at Haridwar Railway Station to monitor and manage the network which will see heavy activity in the coming days.

Dates of four Shahi Snans in Kumbh Mela 2021- First Shahi Snan- 11th March- Shivratri, Second Shahi Snan- 12th April Somvati Amavasya, Third Shahi Snan- 14th April- Makar Sankranti and Fourth Shahi Snan- 27th April- Baisakh Purnima.
