Kochi: The Kochi Metro project has been in news for hiring 23 transgender people as employees of the new train service but a recent video shared by those new employees is breaking the internet for the simple request they have made.

In the video, one employee says, “When you look at me today, I don't want you to see someone who needs pity;” another says, “When you see me, don't look twice.”

The video has been released by the Kerala government. It has been shared on Facebook for about 30,000 times with more than 500 people commenting on it.

The Kochi Metro had come up with the decision to hire the transgenders with an aim to develop the marginalised and neglected community.

They would be deployed in different sections based on their qualifications. This is for the first time that a government-owned company has hired members of the third gender in bulk.
