Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Listening to someone annoyed and disappointed with the catering service of the Indian Railways is nothing new due to the lacuna in proper management and customer services. But the IRCTC has been constantly working on the ways to improve the catering system in the public transporter.

In one such attempt by the IRCTC, it is planning to implement airline catering model, where the mini-meal facility will be available for the passengers. The model will be adopted to facilitate better food for passengers, ZeeNews reported.

Zee Business, citing sources, said Railways will be adopting the concept of mini-meals as per the airlines. And serve concept, packed foods to the passengers under the mini-meal concept.

It is expected that the Indian Railways will start the service in those trains only whose catering facilities are controlled by IRCTC.

Benefits of Such Facilities

Passengers will be served with high-quality foods apart from good hygienic conditions.

The catering money will be separated from the tickets. So, travellers will have an option to avail or discard having food in the train of their journey.

No longer passengers will have to pay more- there will be two basic rates, fixed, for the mini-meal. For instance, the veg mini-meal will be served at around Rs 70-80 while the non-veg mini-meal will be priced at around Rs 140-150.

However, apart from this cold drinks or any other items that the meal doesn't include, you will have to pay separately.
