New Delhi: Availing railway ticket(s) during peak travel seasons looks easy but it isn’t. When chances slip during normal booking of train tickets, travelers pin their hopes on Tatkal ticket-booking. Passengers can book Tatkal tickets a day before the journey; while the time slot for AC class ticket-booking is fixed at 10 am, those seeking a sleeper class ticket have time slots at 11 am.

Since Tatkal tickets are limited and the demand being very high, booking tickets a day prior to the journey becomes all the more difficult.

However, if you want confirmed ticket(s) from IRCTC, here are some best tricks which you need to follow:

MASTER LIST: You can use the master list to save details according to the number of passengers. Save necessary details of the passengers in the master list on IRCTC website. You can also save details of passengers in the My Profile section of the IRCTC account. What this will do is, with just one click your job is done and your time will be saved.

OTP-FREE PAYMENT GATEWAY:  Though internet banking is considered fastest payment option during ticket booking in IRCTC, if need arises, passengers can also choose payment options like e-wallet, PayTM and UPI for which OTP is not required. This will save your time and booking will not get delayed.

INTERNET SPEED: A high-speed internet is more important than anything else while booking tickets. If in case website takes a lot of time to load and errors occur during booking several times due to slow-speed internet, there are chances that payment may fail. In such situations, tickets are not booked.

PREPARE WELL: Your preparation is the key for successful Tatkal ticket booking. Passengers/travelers are advised to prepare well before booking tickets on the website so that they are not confused about the instructions and tabs to follow step-by-step.

LOGIN BEFOREHAND: It is always better to log in one or two minutes before the tatkal quota opens and select the station code and berth beforehand. As soon as the quota opens, immediately select the names of the passengers from the master list and then head directly to the payment option.

KEEP BANK DETAILS READY: Those booking tickets online should keep all the bank details ready for payment. It is advisable to use internet banking or OTP-less payment option. Keep the registered mobile with you for OTP.

LOGIC BEHIND 2 BROWSERS: Do not log in on two different browsers with the same ID if you want to increase the chances of a confirmed ticket. If in case one browser does not work, you can try booking tickets with the other.
