Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Indian Railways is continoulsy trying to improve several kinds of amenities in its trains so that crores of passengers depending on the country’s largest public transporter will have hassle free and comfortable journey.
A report published in the Hindustan Times said that the public carrier has now decided to implement a slew of new measures like upgradation of braking system, improving secondary suspension between carbody and bogie to reduce vibration to ensure maximum comfort for passengers.
Quoting Rajesh Aggarwal, member (rolling stock) of the Railway Board, the report stated that in coming days, with the railways targeting to run most trains at 130 kmph, one of the key changes in the trains will be modification of wheels and the braking system so that passengers do not feel the impact when brakes are applied.
This apart the railways is also aiming to change cushion of seats in air conditioned and sleeper coaches because riding comfort is most important for passengers.
“Those taking overnight journeys want the seat cushion as soft as their bed. We are now analyzing the right type of cushion for the comfort of passenger. We are transforming passenger experience through awesome exteriors, congenial ambience and better amenities/service through massive upgradation,” the report quoted the official as saying.tone
