Bhubaneswar: Indian Railways has undertaken several measures for improving facilities both at stations as well as inside several trains across the country. Such improvements are continuous in nature and special focus is also being given on safety of passengers.

In this addition, Indian Railways' Northeast Frontier Railway zone has started a unique initiative to earmark a special portion of the SLR coaches with pink colour.

As per senior official, this is done to specially help the women passengers with better safety and security.

The special colour can help the woman passengers, who usually travel alone or with minors, easily identity the coach even during rush hours. The facility is also extended to Divyang passengers.

SLR coaches with pink colour portion for woman passengers have already been marked in several passengers trains including- train no-55817, 55818, 55803,55804 and 55809, 55809 and 55810 which run between New Bongaigaon and Guwahati.

Similarly, pink colour coaches have been identified in train no-55895 and 55896 which run between Rangiya and Murkongselek.

Soon RPF personnel and Ticket Checking Staff will be deployed in these coaches, informed Northeast Frontier Railway zone in a statement.
