Just ahead of the new year, the Railway Ministry has come up with yet another initiative for its passengers. Rail Minister Piyush Goyal stated that Railways is set to increase the combined reservation quota of lower births in trains for senior citizens and all the female passengers that are 45 years of age and above for the comfort and convenience of female passengers and the elderly.

As per sources, Ministry of Railways has decided that the combined reservation quota of lower berths earmarked for senior citizens, female passengers 45 years of age and above and pregnant women may be enhanced as under:-

At present, the following combined reservation quota of lower berths is earmarked in Sleeper, AC-3 tier and AC-2 tier classes for senior citizens, female passengers 45 years of age and above and pregnant women:-
